Pay Premiums?

Medicare Advantage (Part C) patients must continue to pay their Part B premium. Enrolling in a Medicare Advantage plan does not replace the requirement to pay for Part B; rather, the Advantage plan becomes the way you receive those benefits.

The Standard Requirement: To join and stay in a Medicare Advantage plan, you must be enrolled in both Medicare Part A and Part B.

The 2025 Cost: For most people, the standard monthly Part B premium is $185.00 (rising to $202.90 in 2026). This is typically deducted automatically from your Social Security check.

Dual Premiums: In some cases, you may have to pay two monthly premiums:

The Part B premium (paid to Medicare/Social Security).

The Medicare Advantage plan premium (paid to the private insurance company). However, many Advantage plans have a $0 monthly premium, meaning you only pay the Part B premium.

Exceptions and Cost Reductions
